Beauty, part 2

So I got to work with one of my favorite faces, Rachel, who I haven't worked with since I was at Lowrider Magazine. Luckily we found each other on Facebook and had a couple of sessions and even got to meet one of her beautiful daughters, Samantha, who's a cheerleader at her high school. The first image was from our first test session, the second was from her Lowrider photo feature and the last one, old school glamour, was done last week. Friend Courtney Honda handled the hair styling while Rachel did a nice job on her makeup.
I can't wait to work with her again, hmmm, maybe after the crazy holidays huh?

Recent sessions, part 1

So I've moved locations, gone is the studio I was working out of; got a bit burned out and needed to stretch my photographic "legs." So I'm going to do more location work and I'm starting to be more diverse in my subjects. But in the meantime, here's some more beauty for you...

SEMA show, networking and being "hungry" these days.

 Hey,
So I had a great time last week in Vegas, went to Sin City with no cash and came back home with a free mini laptop and a handful of new contacts. I went there with a friend of mine, Jose, who took care of the room and food while I was the driver.
As for the laptop, I NEVER, repeat never win at contests, races, the Lotto, gambling, etc, but thought I'd take a chance on this raffle and jackpot, cool huh? It was good to see my friends like Tito, Joe Greeves and John of NotStockPhotography.com. I hope this is the beginning of a positive streak...here's a few snaps from the trip, keep an eye out on other magazines besides Lowrider; I like other cars and would rather work with people that can appreciate my skills. Diversify!

Afternoon walk...look around you!

So I went for a walk at the Whittier Narrows area and took in the view, watched the lizards freak out because I was there and planning my next session or two in the area. I'll driven by here many a time and always thought to check it out, so there I went. Man, it's co cool, serene and beautiful (in spots) sans the trash people have left there on the grounds. I barely went into one section but within in minutes you have a variety of spots to check (photograph!) out.

Early Pinup pix...

So here's a few that I began with, my friend Christina was the one who thought of the theme and was my inspiration. A nod to the glory days of vintage Hollywood portraiture create/invented/perfected by the grandfather of the genre, the legendary George Hurrell. These were done at Esperanza Studios in (East) Los Angeles, California. I still shoot there from time to time and recommend it to those looking for a variety of sets and backgrounds. I think I'll be heading out there again very soon!

Cops for Tots Car and Motorcycle Show, LA Police Academy

Over the past fourteen years, the Central Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department has been proud to organize the annual COPS for TOTS Car and Motorcycle Show. Since its inception in 1996, the proceeds from this show have benefited the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the Los Angeles Children's Hospital. As our show grew larger and their proceeds increased, they've expanded the number of children's charities that share in the success of our show. The COPS for TOTS Car and Motorcycle Show became a valued tradition for organizers and participants alike.

Harvey's, err, Johnnie's, no wait BOB'S BIG BOY BROILER....sheesh!

Yup, it's finally open. After years of red tape, disrepair and some neglect the historic landmark located in the City of Downey, California, has been given new life. I was fortunate enough to be there during the open week. It was a mixed crowd, hot rods, lowriders, lead sleds, classic and muscle cars were sprinkled beneath "the canopy" and around the parking lot. The Broiler buzzed with activity as patrons, old and new, got to get acquainted with the new owners, crew and fresh landscaping and paint. I overheard they're going to make Wednesday evenings their cruise night. So bust out the car, clean her up, wax her down and make sure to leave room for that double-deck burger and fries combo, oh and try the malt-shakes, very good stuff! Viva la Broiler!
